The 6 Kingdoms Webquest

In order to classify all living things into 6 Kingdoms, you will need to use your resources to answer the 5 questions that scientist ask about all living things. Each kingdom has a unique set of answers to the questions. The questions are stated below and the website resources are listed after that. Please look at the descriptions of each website in order to determine how useful they will be in answering certain questions.

Step 1 - Use the websites below to define eukaryote and prokaryote on the back of your worksheet.

Step 2 - Use the questions below and the websites below and find answers to all of the questions for each of the 6 kingdoms. You will notice that Kingdom: Archaebacteria and Kingdom: Eubacteria are together. This is becuase they share so many qualities.

Step 3 - If there is time, look for information about protozoans and algae. This is extra and you will have to search beyond the given resources.

The questions you need to ask about each kingdom:

1. How many cells does the organism have?

2. What kind of cell(s) does it have?

3. Does it move?

4. How does it reproduce?

5. How does it get nutrients?

About.com - This website will help you understand the difference between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It also explains which kingdoms have members that are prokaryotes and which are eukaryotes.

Overview of the 6 Kingdoms - This is a text resource and is not a website. It has a lot of useful information and you should skim through all the kingdoms outlined in the text. It is most useful, however, for discovering how the members of each kingdom reproduce.

Comparing the 6 Kingdoms - Use the website last to figure out the pesky movement question. The site is a Prezi and you will need to click next to see each individual kingdom.
